Revolver at His Side
ADELAIDE. Tuesday.
Mounted Constable Vivian Thomas Pratt, aged 27 years, was found shot dead in his. room at the Mounted Police Barracks at 9.15 o'clock this morning. There was a bullet wound in his left temple and his service revolver was by his side. A few minutes previously he had been talking to his colleagues and appeared quite normal. There was no indication that he been worried recently. Twelve months ago Pratt sustained head injuries during horse training work and remained unconscious for 36 days. Since his recovery he had not been on active duty, but had been employed on routine work at the barracks. Pratt was a returned soldier and unmarried. A few weeks ago he sent in a voluntary resignation and would have left the force at the end of this month. His parents reside near Two Wells.
