Biography

"...Australian Prisoner of War, 2688 Private Clarence Liddle, 10th Battalion, from Rosefield, South Australia. Pte Liddle enlisted at the age of 19 on 5 May 1915 and embarked for overseas on 2 September 1915 aboard HMAT Anchises. Following service at Gallipoli, he went on to serve on the Western Front where he was captured at Pozieres, France, on 22 August 1916. He was held as a POW at Dulmen and Munster in Germany until repatriated to England on 2 December 1918. Pte Liddle arrived back in Australia on 18 April 1919." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
