Brisbane Buchanan WAKEFIELD was born on 20th February, 1888 in Rockhampton, Queensland

His parents were Jabez WAKEFIELD & Margaret Fraser

Biography

Sister: Mrs Isabella Hocking, lived at Bromfield Street, Colac, Victoria.
(1923 Isabella notified defence both parents deceased).

Fiancee (Friend) Miss Florence Myrtle Hill, Carrington Street, Adelaide, South Australia.

Previous Service:  11 months Australian Naval Reserves in QLD, until leaving state

Described on enlisting as 26 years 11 months old; 5' 4" tall; 132 lbs; dark complexion;
blue eyes; dark brown hair; Baptist

19/2/1916     enlisted into WWI in Adelaide, South Australia

6/3/1916       appointed to "E" Company, 2nd Depot Battalion, Exhibition AIF Camp

16/3/1916     appointed Sapper with 11th Field Company, Engineers, Mitcham Camp

31/5/1916      embarked from Outer Harbour, Port Adelaide, South Australia onboard

21/7/1916      disembarked into Devonport, England

24/11/1916    proceeded overseas to France, ex Southampton

7/10/1917      gun shot wound left shoulder, wouned in action, in the field, Belgium

7/10/1917      died of wounds received in action, at No.17 Casualty Clearing Station, Belgium
