Private Mathew Harold Kennedy (Service No:WX34546) enlisted in the Australian Army on 30 October 1942 and served with HQ Fortress Engineers. He was attached to 2/4 Pioneer Battalion when he was Discharged on 6 June 1946.

Born in 1922 in Katanning WA, Mathew was the second of three children of Terence Patrick Kennedy (b1900 in Albany, WA) and Florence Sydney Strettell (b1903 in Lancashire, England) - Florence immigrated in 1906, arriving in Fremantle, WA on board the Oruba. Terence (a Tailor) and Florence married in 1922 in Katanning, WA and settled in Albany where Terence was a Tailor.

Mathew worked in Albany as a Linesman and in 1951 married Linda Gertrude Conway (nee McGlade; b1917 in Albany, WA) - Linda was a Textile Worker. Mathew and Linda settled in Albany where Mathew was a Linesman and Waterside Worker and Linda a Textile Worker. Mathew died in 1970 and Linda in 1987.
