Private Stanley Frederick Webeck (Service No:NX41329) enlisted in the AIF on 30 August 1940, and was attached to 2/4 Pioneer Battalion. Private Webeck served in the Middle East (2 November 1941 - 31 March 1942) and New Guinea (28 August 1942 - 21 October 1943) with 2/1 Pioneer Battalion, and was attached to 2/4 Pioneer Battalion at Discharge on 3 November 1945.
Stan was born in Walgett, New South Wales in 1918, fourth of nine children of George Thomas Webeck (b1875 in Maitland, New South Wales) and Ruth (Annie) May Sills (b1894 in Tenterfield, New South Wales). George worked as a Labourer and was a Selector in Narrabri and Namoi, before he and Annie married in 1912 in Walgett. In 1923 George and Annie moved their family to Cunnamulla, QLD where George was Manager of Killara Station. Aniie returned to New South Wales in the late 1920s, settling with her children in Wee Waa. George returned to New South Wales in 1930, and worked as a Station Hand at Cryon Station before retiring to Narrabri.
Stan lived with his mother in Wee Waa and was working as a Labourer when he enlisted in the Army in 1940. In Narrabri in 1944 he married Alma Jean Jeffery (nee Boulton; b1905 in Leichardt, New South Wales). Following Discharge from the Army, Stan and Alma settled in Sydney, where they raised their family and Stan worked as a Labourer. Alma died in 1969 and Stan in 1982.
