After a long illness the death occurred at the Repatriation Hospital, Heidelberg, of Mr Phillip H. A. Duffett, of ''Mollyburton," Tawonga. The late Mr Duffett joined the 2nd AIF in 1940 and left here with the second reinforcements to "Albury's Own." In the Middle East he transferred to the 2/6th Field Ambulance and was invalided home in 1942. Besides his widow and stepdaughter (Mrs Jones, Wooragee), he leaves two brothers, Albert (Albury) and Alfred (England). His sister, Rose (Mrs Kerr, Yarram), predeceased him.
The service was conducted at the Fawkner Crematorium by Padre Davis, followed by a Masonic service by Bro J. Campbell. The RSL service was conducted by the former president of the RSL (Mr Mcintosh). Coffinbearers were Messrs A. Duffett, M. McEwin, S. James, R. Guthrie, R. Croucher and C. O'Connor. The cortege was preceded by a "Highland" piper.
