DIES IN FALL
FROM TRUCK
KALGOORLIE, Tues — A fall while travelling on a six-wheeled semi-trailer caused the death of railway ganger Hubert Edward Royal Eastcott, at 11 p.m. on Sunday.
Eastcott and his wife were returning home to Woolgangie from Bulla Bulling with a tennis party. He fell between the table-top and the driving canopy and two sets of dual wheels passed over his head. Driver of the truck, which is owned by the Golden Mile and Murchisqn Timber Co., was timber carter Edwin Pollard.
"Upon inquiry I find that Hubert Edward Royal Eastcott came by his death on the 5th. day of May, 1946, about 1 1/2 miles west of the Bulla Bulling hotel on the Eastern Highway from the following injuries: Multiple fractures of the skull with extensive laceration of the brain substance. Caused by him accidentally falling off a Ford V8 truck Reg. No. KJ1279. driven by Edwin Pollard. The rear wheels of the truck passing over his head, no blame being attached to 'the driver of the truck, or the passengers. As a rider I consider the tool box in its present state is unsafe for rear passengers to ride on.
