The Rev. Kenneth Henderson, M.A.,Dip. Ed. the recently appointed chaplain of St. Peter's College, comes from Melbourne, where he was educated at Trinity Grammar School, under the headmastership of Dr. Long, the present Bishop of Bathurst, who. is now serving as a chaplain on the Western front. Mr. Henderson was dux of the school, and senior prefect during his last two years there. From school he proceeded to Trinity College, University of Melbourne, Where he obtained the degree of M.A. and the diploma of education with honors. In his arts course he graduated with first-class final honors in philosophy, and also obtained honors in history and in English language and literature. Before, proceeding to the front as a chaplain, Mr. Henderson was acting for a time as a non-resident lecturer in philosophy at St. Paul's College, Sydney. He started a new church grammar school and on returning to Melbourne served for two and a half years on the staff . of the Church of England Grammar School. During the latter part of the time he was assistant chaplain, under the Rev. J. K. Bickersteth, M.A., M.C., who is at present senior chaplain to the 56th (British) Division. Mr. Henderson left for the front at the beginning of 1916 and returned a few weeks ago. He served with the 12th Brigade of the 4th. Division, and later with corps troops. He was medically 'branded' for Australia in September, but obtained leave without pay, during which he served for a term on the staff of Winchester College. Winter bringing a relapse into ill-health, the authorities insisted on his return to Australia. Both Mr. Henderson's brothers have fallen in action. The younger, Lieutenant A. D.Henderson, died of wounds received in the landing. The elder. Captain R. H. Henderson, was killed while leading the remnants of the 6th and 7th Battalions at the conclusion of the charge of the 2nd Brigade at Cape Helles, on May 8 1915.
