His brothers, Privates Theodore Frederick [25] and Wilfred Richard [26] both fell at the First Battle of Gaza 26 March 1917 whilst serving with the 1/4th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment. 53rd Division. Both are commemorated on The Jerusalem Memorial.
