Gunner Daphne Peters (Service No:45325) enlisted in the Australian Women's Army Service (AWAS) on 15 February 1942 and served with 7 Advanced Ordnance Depot and 55 Search Light Battery. Gunner Peters was Discharged on 24 October 1945.

Born in 1919 in Geraldton WA, Daphne was youngest of four children of Henry (Harry) William Peters (b1883 in Liverpool, NSW) and Mary Alice Groce (b1881 in Timor, Victoria). Harry and Mary settled in Northam WA in the early 1900s - and by 1912 were in Narrogin where Harry worked as a Caretaker before moving to Geraldton in 1914. Harry worked as a Crane Driver in Geraldton and by 1931 the family was living in Merredin where Harry was a Fitter's Assistant. In the 1940s Harry and Mary moved to Donnybrook where Harry worked as a Pumper.

Daphne was a Hospital Orderley in Perth WA when she enlisted in the AWAS in 1942 and in 1943 in Midland Junction married Ernest Joseph Brady (b1916 in Greenough, WA) - Ernest was in the Army. Daphne and Ernest lived in Midland Junction, WA where Ernest worked as a Labourer and Assistant Fitter. Daphne died in 1968 and Ernest in 1993.
