Driver George Broadbear (Service No:VX74733) initially enlisted in the ACMF (Trooper; Service No:V20636) and served with 19th Machine Gun Regiment before enlisting in the AIF on 18 February 1942 as a Private. He served with 2 Tank Transporter Coy until Discharge (Medical) on 13 October 1943.

George was born at Nhill, Victoria in 1911, second of three children of Walter Stanley Broadbear (b1885 in Caltowies, South Australia) and Ethel Louisa Crittenden (b1888 in Beverley, South Australia). Walter was a Farmer at Hindmarsh, Jeparit, Victoria in 1909 when he and Ethel married. They settled in Hindmarsh where they raised their family and Walter was a Farmer.

George was a Farmer at Lake Hindmarsh, Jeparit and in 1936 in Hopetoun married Evelyn (Eva) Joyce Male (b1910 in Beulah, Victoria). George and Eva lived at Lake Hindmarsh and in Portland where they raised their family and George was a Farmer. Eva died in 1985 and George in 1993.
