Private Raymond Joseph Green enlisted in the ACMF on 24 September 1941. He was attached to 8 Supply Petrol Coy when he Discharged on 19 May 1943 to enlist in the RAN as an Ordinary Seaman (Service No:F5052 on board HMAS Cerberus. He was an Able Seaman attached to HMAS Horsham when he Discharged on 31 January 1946.

Born in 1924 in Boulder WA, Ray was the eldest of four children of William (Bill) Charles Mellanby Green (b1901 in Stawell, Victoria) and Amy Alice Lee (b1898 in St Arnaud, Victoria). Bill (a Miner) and Amy married in 1921 in Boulder, WA where they settled and raised their family and Bill worked as a Miner. Bill served in the ACMF in WWII (Private; Service No:W72879).

In 1945 in Perth WA, Ray married Doris Jane Cumming (b1924 in Boyup Brook, WA) - Doris served in the WRAAF in WWII (Aircraftwoman; Service No:103693). By 1949 Ray and Doris had separated and Ray was a Miner in Kalgoorlie, WA and both remariied. In 1950 in Coolgardie WA, Ray married Irene Mavis Cosgrove (b1925 in Wyalkatchem, WA) - Irene was a Warehouse Assistant in Kalgoorlie. By 1954 Ray and Irene were in Fremantle WA where Ray was a Storeman. Ray died in 1971 and Irene in 1996.
