Curly was the fifth of twelve children of Alfred Hislop (b1871 in Quindalup WA) and Alice Mary Harwood (b1875 in Quindalup WA). Alfred - a Railways Employee - and Alice married in 1896 in Quindlup WA. The family lived in Quindalup, Bunbury, Brunswick Junction, Fremantle and Perth.
A Hairdresser in Perth WA, Curly enlisted in Army in 1940 (Sapper; Service Nos:WX5049/W59010) and was attached to 7 Workshop and Park Coy RAE when he was Discharged in June 1945. Six of Curly's brothers served in WWI/WWII.
Curly returned to work as a Hairdresser in Fremantle following his Discharge, before moving to Perth where he lived with his brother Harry. Curly was a Railways Employee in the 1950s, and died in 1984.
