George Leishman Jerdan was 31 years and 3 months old at his time of enlistment to serve in the First World War. Before being accepted into the AIF, George made a living out of carpentry and he was unmarried. His Attestation Papers listed his brother, Robert Jordan, as his next of kin.
George began his journey to fight for his country in 2nd June 1915 when he embarked from Brisbane on the HMAT Medic A7. George served at Gallipoli and the Middle Eastern battlefields with the 9th and then 11th Light Horse Regiments.
