Four Siblings Serving in World War 1
Stanley Peter Whyte was one of four siblings who served during World War 1. They were all born in North Adelaide. He was the eldest being aged 37 when enlisting. His two brothers, Garnet James Whyte (35 years) and Ernest Primrose Whyte (33 years), together with their sister Effie May Whyte (30 years) also joined the military.
Effie joined in May 1917 as a nurse with the Australian Army Nursing Service having trained at Miss Hill's Private Nursing Hospital, Wakefield Street Adelaide, during the previous four years.
Stanley and Garnet, both farmers, joined up in Western Australia while Ernest and Effie enlisted in Adelaide.
