Cyril was aprenticed to his father as a Blacksmith and Farrier before joining the RAAF as a Fitter 11E.

After discharged, Cyril turned to dairy farming in Maffra district and married Marjory Heeps.  Three children.

Cyril returned to aircraft, working for AirFast and Esso-BHP on helicopters.

Before retirement, Cyril worked as a cooks assistant and then Chef at the Officer's Mess at RAAF East Sale.

Cyril lost both legs to diabetes before succumbing to a diabetes induced lung infection at age 86.
