Son of Jessie Ure of Fintry, Hurlingshire, Scotland
9 February 1916 - enlisted at Bendigo, Victoria, with the 38th Battalion with the rank of Private
10 June 1917 - promoted to Lance Corporal
3 Octpber 1917 - wounded in action. Multiple wounds including legs, face and a severe head wound. Invalided to England on 19 October 1917 aboard HS Ville de Leige
19 May 1918 - promoted to Corporal
8 August 1919 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Raranga disembarking on 27 October 1919

11 December 1919 - discharged at the 3rd Military District
