Albert John Hughes AKA Bill after the First World War Prime Minister enlisted under the false name of John Hughes and used the enlistment locality of Mount Bryan although his actual location was Hallett. He enlisted under age falsifying his service application.
It was always said that his parents did not know that he had enlisted. He admitted in his later years that his father was with him when he enlisted.
