Youngest of five siblings who served in WWII, Warrant Officer Patrick Joseph O'Sullivan (Service No:427104) enlisted in the RAAF at No 4 Recruiting Centre Perth on 20 May 1942 as an Aircraftman II, and promoted shortly to Leading Aircraftman - mustered as Air Crew, re mustered as Airman Pilot. Flight Sergeant O'Sullivan embarked for England from Melbourne on 28 April 1944, and was promoted to Warrant Officer attached to 679 and 567 Squadrons - with experience flying Tiger Moth, Wirraway, Wackett and Ryan Trainers, Fairey Battle, Martinet and Hurricane aircraft. On 8 August 1945 WO O'Sullivan embarked from England for Sydney, and was attached to 16 Aircrew Holding Unit (AHU) at Discharge on 1 November 1945.

Pat (aka PJ) was born in Bunbury, Western Australia in 1923, sixth of seven children of Michael James O'Sullivan (b1888 in Heathcote via Bendigo, Victoria) and Sarah McCarthy (b1886 in Melbourne, Victoria). Michael and Sarah married in 1915 in Dwellingup, where Michael was working as a Sleeper Carter. By 1920 the couple had moved their family to Bunbury, where Michael was a Timber Inspector until 1925, when the family settled in Manjimup. Michael was a Forestry Officer in Manjimup, and following Sarah's death in 1940, he remained in Manjimup unti his death in 1968.

Pat worked in Perth for Aherns Ltd as a Junior Clerk - Shop Assistant/Salesman before enlisting in the RAAF in 1942. In Perth in 1945 he married Mary (Mollie) Margaret Looney (b1920 in Bunbury, Western Australia) - Mollie was a Shorthand Typist in Perth before enlisting in the WAAAF (Corporal; Service No:94964). Following Discharge from the RAAF, Pat and Mollie settled in Perth, where they raised their family and Pat was a Civil Servant. Mollie died in 1990 and Pat in 2000.
