Albert George Carey was born on the 23rd of December 1894 in Adelaide, South Australia. Shortly after his brother Allan Sylvester Carey was born. Growing up Albert George Carey lived on West Terrace Adelaide with his mother, Mrs Delia Carey and his brother, Allan Sylvester Carey. Before the war he worked as a labourer in the Williamstown area.
Albert George Carey enlisted on the 8th of September 1915 in Adelaide South Australia. His brother Allan followed in his footsteps enlisting just a few months later. Albert served with the 27th Battalion, 9th Reinforcement.
He served in the Middle East and on the Western Front. In October 1917 he was hospitalised with a fever and rejoined his unit after a few weeks of treatment. He was granted leave on the 25/2/1918. Albert finished the war as a Lance Corporal in the 27th Battalion.
After the war Albert George Carey returned home on the 1st of May 1919 and was discharged 24th August 1919. Albert passed away on the 13th of July 1955, he is buried at the West Terrace Cemetery.
