Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Jack was the youngest of five children of John Dyson (b1860 in Perth, WA) and Alice Louisa Ridley (b1875 in Woodley, WA). John (a Blacksmith) and Alice married in 1891 in Guildford, WA and settled in Collie, WA where John worked as a Blacksmith. Alice died seven months after the birth of her youngest child Jack, and John moved with his children back to Perth, WA where he died in 1913.

Jack worked as a Shearer's Cook in the North West of WA, and was a Carpenter's Improver in Perth WA in 1935 when he married Adeline Evelina Wright (b1908 in Box Hill, Victoria) - Adeline was a Milliner in Fremantle WA. When Jack enlisted in the RAAF in March 1941, he provided a Stat Dec that he was born in Box Hill, Victoria (his Birth Certificate gives Fremantle, WA as his place of birth). Jack was a Builder Contractor with three children living in Perth when he enlisted (Aircraftman 1; Service No:38193) - Fitter Armourer - and was promoted to Corporal by 1943 when he was attached to 25 Squadron. Referees in his application (National Archives Australia) described him as 'careful and exact, and also a man of his word' and 'hardworking, trustworthy and willing to learn'. On 18 April 1945 Jack transferred to the RAAF Reserve to resume his civilian occupation - which he stated was Bricklayer. Jack was attached to 14 Aircraft Repair Depot when he was Discharged in May 1947.

Jack and Aveline lived in Waterman's Bay until the early 1950s when they moved to Maylands in Perth WA. Jack worked as a Builder and Bricklayer. He died in 1970 and Aveline in 2002.
