Frank was the son of Charles and Elizabeth Sleader [nee James]. Frank left
Adelaide with the 10th Battalion on board HMAT A11 Ascanius on 20 October
1914 bound for Egypt, where he fought until 1 May 1915 when he sustained a
serious head wound . He was hospitalised in Cairo on 25 April and was
returned to Australia on the Hororata on 29 July due to the serious nature of
his wound. Frank was discharged as medically unfit on 16 June 1916.
In 1925 Frank married Doris Edwards. Frank died on 28 February 1959, aged
71 years, and is buried in Stirling General Cemetery.1
