Military Medal
'This Gunner displayed great courage and devotion to duty whilst attached to F.O.O.'s on the 8th and 9th August 1918 in front of HAME -VILLERS BRETONNEUX. On both days on several occasions when communications failed, he carried back despatches to his Battery, through Rifle, Machine Gun and Artillery fire, enabling the guns to be brought into action against enemy strong point which were holding up the Infantry advance. He was also prominent in maintaining telephonic communication, which was frequently cut. His work was done cheerfully and speedily, with total disregard to personal safety. and was of the greatest value. His excellent conduct is deserving of special recognition.'
