Leading Aircraftman Trevor George Challen OAM (Service No:83826) initially enlisted in the Air Training Corps (ATC) as a Cadet on 13 April 1942 and on 2 October 1943 enlisted in the RAAF as an Aircraftman I (mustered as a Trainee Technician and remustered as Instrument Repairer and then Insrument Maker). ACI Challen completed Nos 5 and 3 Schools of Technical Training (STT) and served as an LAC with Flying Boat Maintenance Unit (FBMU). LAC  Challen was attached to 112 Air Sea Resuce Flight at Discharge on 15 April 1946.

Born in 1925 in Perth WA, Trevor was third of six children of Leslie (Les) George Reginald Challen MC, MiD (b1895 in Walhalla, Victoria) and Kathleen Beatrice Wardell-Johnson (b1895 in York, WA). Les (a Clerk) and Kathleen (a Typist) married in Perth in 1920 - following Les' service in WWI. The couple settled at Herne Hill in the Swan Valley where Les was a Viticulturalist before moving to Perth in 1930 where Les was a Motor Mechanic. Les also served in the ACMF in WWII.

Trevor completed the Junior Certificate at Perth Boys' School and then worked as a Junior Audt Clerk in Perth. Following his Discharge from the RAAF, Trevor worked in Perth as an Audit Clerk and in 1948 married Daisy Merle Leslie (b1927 in Kalgoorlie, WA). Trevor and Daisy lived at Roleystone and Perth - where Trevor was an Audit Clerk - before moving to Melbourne in 1958 and then to Tasmania, where Trevor was an Accountant. Trevor was an RACT member from 1981 to 1997 (President from 1987 to 1990) and was granted a Life Membership in 1993. In the 2004 Queen's Birthday Honours, Trevor was awarded an OAM in the General Division 'For service to the community in Tasmania, perticularly through Camp Quality and the Royal Automobile Club of Tasmania' (Trove; 2004). Daisy died in 2012 and Trevor in 2018.
