Aircraftman 1 Noel William Pocknall (Service No:128978) served in the RAAF from 27 April 1943 to 21 June 1943 and was attached to 1 Embarkation Depot at Discharge. He was the youngest of five siblings to serve in WWII.
Born in 1925 in Stratford Victoria, Noel was the eighth of nine children of Leonard (Len) Albert Pocknall (b1884 in Dunedin, New Zealand) and Annie Maxwell (b1886 in Maffra, Victoria). Len was a Carpenter when he arrived in Sydney in 1907, and he and Annie married in 1912 at Stratford in Victoria. They settled in Maffra where Len was a Carpenter.
Noel worked as a Labourer before enlisting in the RAAF and was a Factory Worker in Maffra. In the early 1960s in Sale Victoria, Noel married Aileen Mavis Roberts (nee Maxwell; b1928 in Sale, Victoria). Noel and Aileen settled in Sale where Noel was a Farm Hand/Labourer and Factory Worker. Noel died in 2010 and Aileen in 2020.
