Aircraftwoman I Irene Jocelyn Mary Dival (Service No:103580) enlisted in the WAAF on 30 November 1942 at No 4 Recruiting Centre Perth - mustered as Office Orderly attached to No 3 WAAF Depot. ACWI Dival was attached to 5 Embarkation Depot at Discharge on 9 February 1943 (Medically Unfit).
Irene was born in Woodanilling via Katanning, Western Australia in 1922, eldest of six children of Stanley (Stan) Victor Dival (b1897 in Brighton, England) and Ruth Emily Tanner (b1897 in Parkes, New South Wales). Stan immigrated in 1911 with his parents and siblings, arriving in Fremantle on board the Omrah. The family setttled in Woodanilling, where Stan was a Farm Hand before serving in the AIF in WWI (Private; Service No:14651). Following his Discharge, Stan was a Disabled Veteran in 1921 when he and Ruth married in Katanning. In the mid 1930s Stan and Ruth moved their family to Perth, where Stan was a Grocery Storekeeper - he was appointed Justice of the Peace, was President of the Cricket Club and of the North Perth Sub-Branch of the RSL, and Vice President of the WA Retail Grocers' Association. Stan served in the ACMF (WO; Service No:W40156) in WWII.
Irene was in Perth following her Discharge from the WAAF, and in 1944 married Charles Norrel Doehring (b1922 in Perth, Western Australia) - Charles was a Flight Lieutenant in the RAAF. Irene and Charles settled in Perth, where they raised their family and Charles was a Carpenter. Both died in 2006 - Irene in March and Charles in September.
