Olive was the third of four children of Marinus Morton Hughes (b1890 in Stirling, South Australia) and Elsie Ruby Rosalie Gregory (b1894 in Northam, Western Australia). Marinus (a Farmer) and Elsie married in 1913 in Marwonga, WA. The couple settled in Pingelly WA and raised their family - Marinus was a Farmer. In 1947, following Elsie's death, Marinus remarried.
Olive worked at the Bright Spot Tea Rooms in Bunbury WA, and in March 1942 enlisted in the RAAF. She served as an Aircraftwoman (Mess Steward; Service No:99417) and was attached to 5 Embarkation Depot when she was Discharged in January 1944.
In 1943 Olive married Gordon Reginald Brewsher (b1920 in Bunbury, WA) - Gordon was a Munitions Worker in Perth when they married, and had served in the RAN from 1938 - 1940 (Able Seaman; Service No:22506). The couple settled in Perth, WA where Olive died in 1984. Gordon died in 1992.
