LAC Donald Frank Walker (Service No:404729) enlisted in the RAAF in November 1940. He was attached to 6 Elementary Flying School Tamworth when he Discharged in February 1941.
The sixth of eight children, Don was born in 1913 in Ipswich, QLD to John Fulton Walker (b1873 in Rosewood on the Darling Downs, QLD) and Ellen Hudson (b1880 in Ipswich, QLD). John (a Coal Miner) and Ellen married in 1900 in Ipswich QLD and settled at Bundamba, Ipswich. By 1915 John was a Colliery Owner at Bergin's Hill in Bundamba, Ipswich.
Don was Manager of the Aberdare Colliery in Bundamba, Ipswich and served in the RAAF in 1940/1941. Don then served in the Australian Army (Lieutenant; Service No:QX50533) from April 1942 to January 1946.
In 1946 Don married Rosanna (Rose) Laviah Price (b1919 in Ipswich, QLD) and they settled in Ipswich QLD where Don was a Mine Manager. Don died in 1973 and Rose in 1998.
