Squadron Leader Noel Herbert Roydhouse (Service No:293447) enlisted in the RAAF (Medical) as a Flight Lieutenant on 17 December 1941 and attended No 1 Wireless and Gunnery School (WAGS) Ballarat. He was promoted to Squadron Leader on 1 August 1943 and was attached to 11 Group HQ at Discharge on 29 April 1946. Siblings Jack and Alan served in WWI.

Born in 1902 in Subiaco, Perth WA, Noel was the youngest of three children of John Charles Roydhouse (b1868 in Wellington, New Zealand) and Grace Thomas (b1869 at Wallaroo Mines, South Australia). John (a Compositor) and Grace married in 1891 at Norwood, South Australia and by the early 1900s had settled in Perth WA, where they raised their family and John worked as a Printer/Compositor and Grace was a Storekeeper.

Noel attended Perth Modern School where he served with the Cadets, and completed his Dentistry Degree in Perth. He worked as a Dentist before enlisting in the RAAF. In 1942 in Geelong Victoria, Noel married Valmai Marion Brewer (b1906 in Bunbury, WA) - Valmai worked in Subiaco as a Bookkeeper and Typist. Following his Discharge, Noel and Valmai settled in Nedlands, Perth WA where Noel was a Dentist. Valmai died in 1987 and Noel in 1992.
