Sergeant Margetts is one of two Australian soldier casualties of the Great War honoured on the Ellon War Memorial in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

He was 32 and the son of James and Mary Ann Margetts of Ellon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland; husband of Mrs Emily Kelloway (formerly Margetts).
