Leading Aircraftman Henry Reginald Player (Service No:167586) enlisted in the RAAF on 3 April 1945 at No 2 Recruiting Centre Sydney as an Aircraftman I - mustered as Medical Orderly. LAC Player completed training with the Medical Training Unit (MTU), and was attached to 4 RAAF Hospital at Discharge on 31 January 1946.
Harry was born in Willoughby, Sydney, New South Wales, youngest of two children of Sydney Reginald Player (b1888 in Springwood in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales) and Emily Ann Ginns (b1893 in Bega, New South Wales). Sydney was a Teacher at Savernake via Corowa when he and Emily married in Bega in 1915. The couple lived in Penrith, where Sydney was a Teacher before settling in Sydney in the 1920s - Sydney was a Public Servant - Senior Auditor with the Auditor General's Department.
Harry followed his older brother into the medical profession, and had completed two years of studies at The University of Sydney in 1945 when he enlisted in the RAAF. Following his Discharge, in 1946 in Sydney he married Cynthia Clive Ross (b1923 in Perth, Western Australia) - Cyntia was a Show Girl and Dance Band and Vocalist before enlisting in the RAAF in 1945 (Aircraftwoman; Service No:178050). Hary and Cynthia settled in Sydney while Harry completed his medical studies - graduating as a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1952. Harry and Cynthia lived in Wyalong and Cargelligo, where they raised their family and Harry was a Medical Practitioner (Government Medical Officer). Harry and Cynthia had divorced by 1968 - Cynthia remained in Sydney and Harry moved to Victoria, where he remarried to Beverlea (a Nurse), and was a Medical Practioner in Yallourn. Harry died in 2006.
