Sergeant Kenneth George Kent (Service No:6218) enlisted in the RAAF on 11 November 1939 as an Aircraftman I attached to HQ Archerfield and mustered as a Mess Steward. He progressed through the ranks to Sergeant (Steward; 1 September 1942 attached to 23 Squadron) and served in New Guinea and Borneo. Sergeant Kent was attached to 200 Flight when he was Discharged on 15 October 1945.

Born in 1911 in Warwickshire England, Ken was fifth of six children of George Edward Kent (b1874 in Birmingham, England) and Matilda Whitlock (b1879 in Southampton, England). George was a Police Constable when he and Matilda married in 1900 in Cape Town, South Africa. They returned to England the next year and George worked as an Insurance Agent.

Ken was working as a Hotel Porter in England when he immigrated as part of the Salvation Army's Youth Migration Scheme, arriving in Brisbane QLD in 1928 on board the SS Vedic. Ken worked as a Farm Labourer on Macleay Island , Cleveland QLD before moving to Brisbane where he was a Hotel Porter in 1935 when he  married first wife Gladys May Lewin (b1913 in Brisbane, QLD). Following his service with the RAAF, Ken was working as a Hotel Porter in Brisbane when he and Gladys divorced and in 1946 Ken remarried Mavis Grace Randall (b1914 at Laidley on the Darling Downs, QLD) - Mavis was a Music Teacher in Southport. In 1953 Ken and Mavis were Divorced and Ken settled in Brisbane where he worked as a Hotel Porter, Waiter and Steward. Mavis died in 1991 and Ken in 2000.
