Herbert Bert Morton
WO Herbert ‘Bert’ Morton was a garage mechanic in Culcairn NSW aged 19 when he signed up to the RAAF. He joined as a flight mechanic, transferred and trained as a flight engineer, posting initially to 11 Squadron RAAF for certification, then to 20 Squadron and flew 41 operational missions as flight engineer in Catalina Flying boats. He was married to Elva and had 4 children. Bert died 13 May 2016 aged 93.
