Recommendation for Military Medal

'At WESTHOEK on 20th September 1917. This man became isolated from his unit and found himself amongst some men of 17th Battalion. He attached himself to Captain WRIGHT's Company and displayed great skill and initiative by taking charge of and working a Lewis Gun. he inflicted many casualties on the enemy, and by his coolness and courage he inspired those with him, with confidence, and undoubtedly contributed largely to the success of 'A' Company. 17th Battalion . This evidence is supported by Colonel MARTIN, C.O.of 17th Battalion, and by Captain WRIGHT, O.C. 'A' Company, 17th Battalion.'
