Percy' parents were John Gilliland and Emma Hobbs. A timber-getter in the Samsonvale district, he enlisted towards the very end of the war in October 1918. By the time Percy had completed his training the war had ended and he was discharged 30 December 1918. Percy married Minnie Bonnell in 1922 and they settled in Cooroy. By 1968 they were living at Redcliffe. Percy died in October 1978, aged 79.
