RAAF Service
Born 9 June 1920, Isobel was the eldest daughter of Robert Bruce Macdonald and Elizabeth Macdonald (nee Nimmo) and one of five siblings.
Isobel’s father was a member of the Australian Light Horse and served in both the Boer War and World War 1.
Isobel enlisted on 23 May 1942 as a Motor Transport Driver with the Women's Auxiliary Air Force.
After undergoing training at No1 Initial Training School at Somers, Isobel joined 7 Fighter Sector HQ on 9 July 1942. She served in Australia with that formation as a Motor Transport Driver with the rank of Aircraftwoman until discharged on 29 Mar 1943.
Isobel subsequently married a fellow member of the RAAF, namely SGT Bruce Charles Roach.
Isobel died in 2016 and is survived by five children.
Isobel is buried at Portarlington Cemetery in Victoria alongside other members of her family.
