Leading Aircraftman Douglas Arthur Freckleton (Service No:143445) enlisted in the RAAF as an Aircraftman 1 at No1 Recruiting Centre Melbourne - mustered as Trainee Technician then as Meteorological Assistant. Promoted to Leading Aircraftman in 1944, he served at Nos 7, 1 and 8 Service Flying Training Schools (SFTS), HQ Tocumwal and 4 Communication Unit (CU). LAC Frecklington was attached to 79 Operational Base Unit (OBU) at Discharge on 13 March 1946.

Doug was born in Warragul, Victoria in 1920, son of Thomas (Tom) Arthur Freckleton (b1887 in Buln Buln via Warragul, Victoria) and Florence (Florrie) Charlotte Milner (b1889 in Buln Buln via Warragul, Victoria). Tom worked as a Labourer before serving in WWI, and was a Farmer in Buln Buln in 1919 when he and Florrie married in Neerim. They settled in Buln Buln where Tom was a Farmer, until retirement in 1950, when they sold the Farm and moved to Melbourne.

Doug attended Melbourne University and worked as a Laboratory Assistant (Governemt Explosives Laboratory) and Analytical Chemist before enlisting in the RAAF. In 1943 he married Phyllis Mary Kilpatrick (b1922 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Phyllis was an Analyst in Melbourne, and lived in Broome, WA with her parents while Doug was in the RAAF. Following his Discharge, Doug and Phyllis settled in Melbourne, where Phyllis worked as an Analyst and Doug completed a Bachelor of Engineering Science and then a Law Degree. By the mid 1960's Doug was working as Patent Attorney in Melbourne. Doug died in 2003 and Phyllis in 2012.
