Leading Aircraftman Dennis Charles O'Connor (Service No:76754) enlisted in the RAAF at No 3 Recruiting Centre Brisbane on 25 January 1940 as an Aircraftman I (mustered as Driver Motor Transport), and was promoted to Leading Aircraftman on 16 January 1943. LAC O'Connor served with No 12 Repair and Salvage Unit (R&SU), and was attached to No 23 Operational Base Unit (OBU) at Discharge on 29 December 1944. Dennis had served in the Militia for six months in 1929 as a National Trainee (NAA).
Dennis was born in Brisbane QLD in 1911, eldest of four children of Patrick O'Connor (b1888 in Toowoomba, QLD) and Emily Elizabeth Tuckett (b1891 in Brisbane, QLD). Patrick (a Carrrier) and Emily (a Tailoress) married in 1911 in Brisbane, where they settled and raised their family and Patrick worked as a Carrier/Carter.
Dennis worked in Brisbane as a Shop Assistant and Timber Cutter/Labourer before joining Wunderlich Ltd as a Truck Driver. In 1937 in Brisbane he married May Victoria Cooper (b1910 in Brisbane, QLD). The couple settled in Brisbane, where they raised their family and Dennis was a Truck Driver. Dennis died in 1990 and May in 1994.
