Wartime Dreams
Pop Izzard wanted to become a pilot. Like his father before him, he was employed on the railway which took him far away from his family home in the Blue Mountains to the Northern Rivers town of Casino. Also like his father, he was green and red colour blind. This precluded him from his civilian dream of being a train driver, as it would stop him from achieving his wartime aspiration to be a pilot.
