The death is reported from the Front of Private Thomas Gregory De Mamiel, of wounds, on the 10th August. Private De Mamiel, who was 25 years of age, at the time of his death, was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. George De Mamiel, of Glen Eva, Darlington Point, and grandson of the late Stanislaus De Mamiel, who, if not the founder of Darlington Point, was one of its earliest pioneers. Young Tom joined up in June, 1915, and had seen three years' active service without a break when the end came. Very great and very general regret was expressed when the sad news was received in Darlington Point, as young Tom was a very popular young fellow. The greatest sympathy is felt for the bereaved parents and brothers and sisters of the deceased soldier. The death of young De Mamiel makes the seventh Darlington Point boy to make the final sacrifice at the Front.
