Albert was the eldest of two children of Albert Lindsay Flegg (b1883 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Alice Lily Dodds (b1886 in Melbourne, Victoria). Albert Snr (a Gas Meter Maker) and Alice married in 1907 in Melbourne Victoria where they settled and Albert Snr worked as a Gas Meter Maker and Sheet Metal Worker. In 1929 the family moved to Fremantle, WA and Albert Snr worked as a Meter Maker.

Albert was a Carpenter and Joiner in Fremantle in 1930 when he married Irene Dyson (b1912 in Broome, WA). The couple settled in Fremantle WA where Albert was working as a Joiner in April 1942 when he enlisted in the RAAF. Albert was a  Corporal (Service No:80202) attached to 43 Operational Base Unit when he was Discharged in July 1945.

Following his Discharge, Albert and Irene settled in Perth WA where Albert worked as a Carpenter and Joiner. He died in 1998 and Irene in 2002.
