Aircraftwoman Phyllis Mary Miller (Service No:113413) enlisted in the WAAAF at No 4 Recruiting Centre Perth on 22 November 1944 (mustered as Clerk General), and was attached to 86 Operational Base Unit (OBU) at Discharge on 3 September 1946.
Phyllis was born in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia in 1916, eldest of four children of John Joseph Miller (b1888 in Kooringa, South Australia) and Louisa Mary Cahill (b1886 in Perth, Western Australia). John had moved to Kalgoorlie in the early 1900s, and was a Miner in 1915 when he and Louisa married. The couple lived in Kalgoorlie, where John was a Miner, and by 1920 were living in Perth where they raised their family and John was a Bread Carter.
Phyllis was working in Perth as a Stenographer (District Accounts Office) in 1944 when she enlisted in the WAAAF. Following Discharge, she was working in Perth as a Typist in 1948 when she married Ronald (Dick) William Dwyer (b1914 in Glenrowan, Victoria) - Dick served in the AIF (Private; Service No:6410) and had been a PoW of the Germans. Phyllis and Dick initially lived in Melbourne, where Dick was a Freezer Hand, before settling in Perth in the early 1950s - Dick worked as a Storeman. Phyllis died in 1954, and Dick later remarried.
