Leading Aircraftman Gerald Kingsley Denny (Service No:436441) enlisted in the RAAF on 8 January 1943 as an Aircraftman at 4 Recruit Depot Busselton. ACI Denny was attached to RAAF Station Pearce and Initial Training School (ITS) Clontarf before posting to 2 Flying Boat Repair Depot Rathmines on 1 July 1943 (the Repair Depot carried out repairs, overhauls and modifications to Flying Boats). Promoted to Leading Aircraftman on 14 January 1944, LAC Denny served with 44 Operational Base Unit (OTU) Merauke and was attached to 76 Operational Base Unit (OTU) at Discharge on 9 January 1946.

The youngest of six children, Gerald was born in 1924 in Kelmscott, Perth WA to Charles Maynard Denny (b1866 in Portland, Victoria) and Irene Alexandra West (b1889 in Melbourne, Victoria). Charles (a Surveyor) and Irene married in 1909 in Perth, WA where  they settled and raised their family and Charles was a Surveyor with the Lands and Surveys Department. Following Charles' death in 1932, irene remarried.

Gerald was champion boxer at Perth Boys' School, and was a Clerk (Bank Officer) with the National Bank of Australia when he enlisted in the RAAF. Following his Discharge, Gerald returned to work as a Bank Clerk in Kalgoorlie, WA and in 1949 in Blackwood, WA married Nita Love Kelly (b1921 in Blackwood, WA) - Nita was a Telephonist and had served in the RAAF (Service No:103867). Gerald and Nita lived in Kulin and Perth where they raised their family and Gerald worked as a Bank Officer and, in the 1970s, as a Newsagent. By 1980 Gerald and Nita had retired to Busselton, where Gerald died in 1989 and Nita in 2012.
