Son of Rippon and Mary Jane Kirkbright, of Meribah, South Australia
Opportunity was taken to say " au revoir” to Private Ern. Kirkbright, who will be leaving for the front at an early date. Messrs. F. Laycock and Mclntosh spoke in reference to the departing’ soldier, who is a very popular fellow, and of splendid physique.
The Supreme Sacrifice.
Profound regret was expressed on all sides last week when the sad news that Corporal Ernest Kirkbright had been killed in action in France on August 9, reached Pinnaroo. Corporal Kirkbright was the eldest son of Mr R. Kirkbright, of Meribah, and formerly of Pinnaroo. The late soldier enlisted from Pinnaroo in February, 1916, and went into camp on March 20th of the same year; he was well known and highly respected throughout the district, and for a considerable period occupied a position as steward in the .Pinnaroo Methodist Church. Out of respect to the memory of the late Corporal Kirkbright flags were flown at half mast when the news of his death became known in Pinnaroo last week. We extend pur deepest sympathy to the parents and relatives in their sad bereavement.
