Leading Aircraftman Robert John Peachey (Service No:123212) enlisted in the RAAF on 6 January 1943 at No 3 Recruiting Centre Brisbane as an Aircraftman I - mustered as Trainee Technical, re mustered as Flight Mechanic and then Fitter. Promoted to Leading Aircraftman on 9 May 1944, LAC Peachey served with 107 Sqaudron and was attached to 3 Operational Training Unit (OTU) at Discharge on 5 April 1946.
Bob was born in Brisbane QLD in 1924, youngest of two children of Charles Nathan Peachey (b1885 at Spring Creek via Killarny, QLD) and Olive Isabella Heymer (b1895 in Brisbane, QLD). Charles and Olive married in 1916 in Wynnum, Brisbane where they settled and raised their family and Charles worked as a Labourer.
Bob started work as a Laboratory Assistant, and was a Junior Clerk with the Department of Public Lands in 1943 when he enlisted in the RAAF. Following his Discharge, Bob was a Clerk in Wyndham in 1954 when he married Emma Ellen Kirkegard (b1930 in Wynnum, Brisbane, QLD) - Emma was a Dressmaker in Wynnum. Bob and Emma settled in Manly, where they raised their family and Bob was a Clerk (Public Servant) until retirement. Bob died in 2015 - 'Bob stood for what was good and right' (Courier Mail; 2015).
