Leading Aircraftman Roy William Tremayne Hunt (Service No:408372) enlisted in the RAAF at No 6 Recruiting Centre Hobart as an Aircraftman I - mustered as Fitter DMT. LAC Hunt was attached to 4 Flight Sector HQ and No 4 Squadron, serving in New Guinea from 20 September 1943 to 9 October 1944. LAC Hunt was attached to 1 Operational Training Unit (OTU) West Sale at Discharge on 11 January 1946.
Roy was born in Launceston, Tasmania in 1909, youngest of two children of Archibald (Archie) William Thomas Augustine Hunt (b1884 in Launceston, Tasmania) and Mabel Gertrude Smith (b1888 in Launceston, Tasmania). Archie (a Traveller) and Mabel married in Launceston in 1907, and lived in Blackwall and Lanena via Beaconsfield, where Archie was a Traveller until his death in 1938.
Roy worked as a Radio Salesman in Launceston where, in 1932, he married Marjorie Edna Staggard (b1912 in Launceston, Tasmania). Roy and Marjorie lived in Launceston, where they raised their son and Roy worked as a Salesman until his enlistment in the RAAF in 1942. Roy and Marjorie divorced in 1944 and both remarried - Roy twice more - in 1947 in Melbourne to Marjorie Edith Rainbow (nee Webster; b1926 in Hobart, Tasmania) and in 1957 in Melbourne to Shirley Joyce Stevens (nee Donohue; b1916 in Warracknabeal, Victoria). Following his Discharge from the RAAF, Roy settled in Melbourne, where he worked as a Salesman until his death in 1970.
