RAAF Wireless-Operator / Air-Gunner
Born in Brisbane, Queensland on 8 May 1918
He enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force as S/N. 408900 on 20 June 1941
After conducting his Air Crew training, he posted as a Wireless Operator Air Gunner with No. 7 Squadron at Townsville, Queensland on 16 September 1942, then to No. 100 Squadron RAAF in November
He served in New Guinea 11 November 1942 to 20 June 1943 & again 28 April 1944 to 28 January 1945
100 Squadron was formed from a nucleus of No. 100 Squadron RAF, which had been destroyed during the Malayan Campaign, and was named in that unit's honour, which was re-formed as a heavy bomber squadron in Britain on 15 December 1942
Over the following months the squadron conducted a number of dangerous low-level attacks in support of operations against the Japanese in the Solomon Islands and New Guinea mainland
He discharged from No 8 Squadron RAAF with the rank of Flying Officer on 20 July 1945
He flew a total of 90 operational sorties accumulating to 184.30 (day) operational hours, 30.55 (night) operational hours
He flew a further 18 "other ops" accumulating to & 26.50 hours
