William John Stones "Bill" was born in Sydney, New South Wales the only child of William Henry Stones 1880-1948 and Bridget Ellen Cain born 26th June 1916. Bridget and William Senior ran Stones Milkbar in Dolphin Street in Coogee openned in 1920 and eas quite famous all over Sydney.
Bill worked on the Wharfs in he shipping yards. He his wife Marjorie "Pat" Lambert when she was in her Nursing uniform shaking a tin for legacy and she fancied him in his sharp crisp overalls and she loved his auburn hair.
When World War 2 broke out Bill asked Pat which one should I join she said I like the navy uniform of the RAAF so he chose that to please Pat. They moved up to Darwin wear Bill rose up the ranks very quickly to Sargeant. He was a bomber.
Bill and Pat married in Newcastle when on rest and recovery between deployments in Darwin and New Guinea.
Bill and Pat had three children Pamela in 1942, Kathleen " Pat" Jnr and Bill Michael Stones
Bill died in Sydney 1st March 1982 from Melanoma (Skin Cancer)
Bill and Pat had 7 grandchildren Hellen, Justin, and Meredith Lewis

Bill was cremated at Randwick Cemetery and scattered at his beloved Coogee Beach, off Wedding Cake Island.
Bill was a life member of the Coogee Beach Surf Life Saving Club.
