Son of Ernest Edward ABELL and Margaret Esther nee HINGSTON, Skew Street, Sherwood, Brisbane, Qld.
Roy was posted to various places in Australia - Sandgate, Narrandera, Bundaberg, Ascot Vale, Bradfield Park prior to embarking for the Uk on 05 May 1943. He arrived in England 07 July 1943 and remained until 17 September 1945. He returned to Australian and disembarked in Sydney 19 October 1945 and was then posted to Bradfield park and onto Sandgate where he was discharged 03 December 1945.
DFC - "This officer has completed numerous operations against the enemy in the course of which he has invariably displayed the utmost fortitude, courage and devotion to duty."
