Son of Cornelius O'Mara and Winifred O'Mara nee  Spelman of Perth, WA.

Prior to enlisting John had as an apprentice in the WA Printing Office.

Next of kin given as his sister Annie Reilly of Wickham Street, East Perth, WA

Commenced return to Australia on 23 May 1917 aboard HT Ayrshire disembarking on 19 July 1917
